time flies

i'm sure you've all heard the expression "time flies when you're having fun".  well, i'd like to modify that to "time flies when you're planning a wedding".  all my now-married friends forewarned me that the final few months whiz by, and i believed them, but i didn't know they were going to go this fast!  and now, we're just 18 days away from the big day, and i continually am bewildered by the calendar date.

when we got engaged over 18 months ago, it felt like we had all the time in the world to enjoy the planning process.  luckily, we made good use of our time, and now with mere days between us and "i do", we feel well-prepared and are more excited than anything else.

i've also been warned that the actual wedding day flies by too, and unfortunately i'm sure that will be true as well.  but, even though i'm certain that our special day will go by more quickly than i would like, i'm going to try my darnedest to savor every...single...moment.

with wedding (obviously) top-of-mind these days, craig and i have joked about what we're going to fill our days, minds and to-do lists with post-november 5th.  and, to tell you the truth, i have no idea!  i guess we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

so, mavens - any tips about how to slow down wedding day time?

one tip craig sent me said to remember that you're getting married not weddinged.  there's so much more to look forward to after the big day : )  check out the article {here}

  1. a great reminder that it is about so much more than just that day! i wish i would have journaled the day after our wedding - spent an hour to write out every emotion, tear, sweet thought, sight, smell, taste, etc. of the day. they come back to me sometimes now and i'm trying to piece the whole day together! i'd love to have that to keep and look back on with our pictures.

  2. I made sure to say relaxed and calm. That was easy since it was only us on a beach...but something to remember is that your focus should be on you and your love...dont let any stresses of the day affect you. The whole day will fly by in an instant and you wanna make sure you have all the long dreamy stares in his eyes, the perfect amount of twirls on the dance floor and all the kisses you want!
    It's all about you guys! Enjoy!

  4. Just remember not to take anything too seriously. Take it as it comes, there will be mis-steps either major or minor but they are a blip in the rest of your life.

  6. For me I found the day a whole lot of hurry up and wait. We got married at 3pm so with hair done and over with by 9am there was a lot of sitting around. Not to complain though I had a lovely day with my girls! One of the best parts of our day was that we drove separately to the venue from the rest of our wedding party it gave us 15 minutes to just talk to each other. If you don't have that option I highly suggest sneaking away for a few minutes just to share a moment with your new hubby. But if you get swept up in all the excitement not to worry - as alexkeller says you've got the rest of your life with him, and for us we spent about 3 hours back at the hotel room just talking about the whole day. It will be amazing and absolutely perfect regardless of any hiccups. Enjoy enjoy enjoy.
    Oh! And as for what to do afterward - we're totally LOVING this newlywed time despite having been together for 9 years before. You feel like you have SO MUCH TIME available to you - it's wonderful!
